The story of my Freshman Year
By Ashley Curtis.
Just like any normal person, You're first year going into highschool can be
extremly nervewracking. People are mean. Guys are immature, And those girls who
you think are you're bestfriends can turn against you in the blink of an eye.
That one person that you thought would always be there for you issn't there.
Have you ever been there for someone when they needed someone to comfort them
but when you need them there not there? Throughout this year of highschool, You realize people like that aren't worth you're time. During the summer going into highschool I lost alot of friends. I lost these friends because they were never
my friends in the first place. All they did was suck whatever they could out of me and use it against me. I called these
people my "Bestfriends". Not realizing they were nothing but Leaches, and Users. But what are you going to do? They
are who they are, So you just have to go in with you're life.
Leaving those immature ignorant people behind i met alot of really nice people who have had people treat them the way I was treated. People who i have alot in common with.Throughout my middle school years I had a friend who put my through a living hell. She would do everything she could to make my life misterable. I didn't realize it at the time, But i should have stopped being friends with her the first time i met her. She wassn't even close to be worth my time. Leaving most of my old friends behind, I still had people who i was friends with but i wassn't close with them, The true friends i had were all going to different schools. Starting highschool with not alot of my close friends there with me was hard, But i got used to it.
This scenario gave me the oppratunity to meet new people and do my own thing. I had a clean plate and i was ready to fill it with nothing but the best of memories. Going into highschool i started the year playing volleyball. I thought it was alot of fun, I had played volleyball in middle school and it was the best. Everyone got a chance to get put in. In the highschool volleyball league they were divided into three sections, "Freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity. I never expected to be put into varisty, or even junior varsity. I was happy with just being rotated back in forth throughout the freshman games.
But that wassn't the case, My thoughts were completely wrong, I was barely put in, And if i was it would be for the last 5 minutes of the game, Not even. If i was good enough to make the team, I should be good enough to play in the game. I never did anything to be treated like this, But i was, It happened, And it was over. I remember one game i was so excited, It was when me and my boyfriend mike started dating, This was the first game of mine that he was going to.I was thinking in my head, " I'm wanna show him how good i really am".
That game, She put me in once. For the last 3 minutes of the game. I was so embrassed and upset. I was the same as everyone else on that team, Maybe not as good as some of them, But everyone on that team should have been treated as equals. That's okay though, Because i will never do a highschool sport ever again. There's alot of different people that you'll meet in highschool. In my opinion, Theres really only two kinds of people, Either you smoke, Or you're a jock. I'm in the middle of those two, I'm myself. I don't need to smoke to be "cool", And i don't need to play highschool sports, Because there overated.
But let's look on the postive side of being in highschool. Theres so much you can do, learn, and create. They have art classes, Buisness classes, Cooking classes, and lots of more! They have classes that are enjoyable. You have the choice to choose the classes that you want, Most of the time you get what you choose. I chose HTML class, and now i'm here making this webpage! Pretty cool right?! But the one thing that i have learned since highschool has started is, The only people you really need is you're family. There the people that are always going to be there for you no matter what. You're obviously going to lose friends and boyfriends, But you could never lose you're family. I've adjusted to the ways of highschool, I have my real friends and that's all that matters. I have a boyfriend who i trust, And who i can talk to, He's pretty much my bestfriend. My advice for whoever reading this is, You need to be yourself because it doesn't matter if you're perfect, there is always going to be someone to judge you on the way you look, Dress or even walk. People will always critize, So just be yourself, Because everyone else is taken, Originality is key.
